Bianca's Bored-Girl Summer Must-Haves
I recently read an article on the longing desire for bored summer days and it struck a nerve…
Is the idea/vision/dream of having nothing on your schedule and the acceptance of boredom a thing of the past? Will it ever be okay to say, yep- I actually have nothing at all to do today?
Ohhhh, how I wish I could go back to those days where friends just popped over and you didn't need to plan a themed event or arrange it over a zillion group texts. Give me the boredom. Give me the random drop-in visitors. Give me the last minute decision to scoop watermelon into balls, painting my nails and lounging on my porch ALL-DAY-LONG with nothing but THAT on my agenda. I put together a list of products that will; in one way or another, help to make the hectic days of summer more tolerable. And maybe; just maybe, you can slow down for a minute and take it all in and appreciate what you have and where you are at (right this very moment).
Until then, let’s chat about what’s keeping me going; knowing bored summer days may not be in my future.
- Is there anything better than an open-faced fresh mozzarella and tomato sandwich? Just drizzle with olive oil, coarse salt (or the Trader Joe’s everything bagel seasoning is also a delish option) and fresh basil.
- I recently read Guncle and I highly recommend it. It was endearing and fun and so easy to read, even if I’ve succumbed to the fact that I have to schedule reading time lately.
- Have you ever tried espresso with lemonade? What a delight for your tastebuds. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re someone that enjoys mixing lemon with pretty much anything- give it a shot 🤣 and add tons of ice.
- Are you a paper person? I know everything is digital and the topic makes me seem old AF, but don’t underestimate the power of writing things down. Besides the fact that there’s actually scientific studies on the topic, I’ve always been a fan of this approach; before I even knew the studies existed. Whether it’s what you are proud of, grateful for, planning for the future or day-dreaming about- just give it a try and see what happens. And the best way to start is to treat yourself to a freshie notebook that you’ll be excited to open up. I highly recommend any of the notebooks we carry. I’ve personally selected each & everyone.
- Adding color with accessories as a way of curating your wardrobe. I know Interwoven apparel is generally full of color and nothing about that is changing. But in the theme of simplifying things, try putting one color on (head to toe) and then add a few colorful accessories. Maybe a bag, some beaded jewels and/or a pair of red sunnies and see what happens. It’s so easy and a great way to pack for a trip. Find the basics you love and then sprinkle in the sprinkles. Hot tip: sprinkle in groups of 3.
